Coherent Point Targe Analysis for Estimating Subsidence Velocity in Hong Kong with a Time Series of Envisat Asar Data

چکیده
This paper presents a new time-series InSAR analysis approach, Coherent Point Target Analysis (CPTA), to accurately map surface subsidence. The approach focus on the selection and analysis of sparse coherent point targets which exhibit phase stability over a long period of time. By jointly exploiting temporal and spatial characteristics of the interferometric phases collected from coherent targets, the CPTA approach allows obtaining reliable estimated results of temporal deformation evolution and average deformation velocity, even when few SAR images are available. With the CPTA analysis, experiments are carried out on a time series of ENVISAT ASAR data acquired over Hong Kong, China, characterized of ground settlement induced by reclamation activities. The estimated subsidence velocity is compared with ground surveying data and the validation result show a high consistency between the two data sets.

Evaluation of land subsidence in Kashmar-Bardaskan plain, NE Iran
The development of agriculture and industry and the increase of population in countries with arid to semi-arid climates have led to more harvesting of groundwater resources and as a result land subsidence in different parts of the worlds. Decades of groundwater overexploitation in the Kashmar-Bardaskan plain in the north-east of Iran has resulted substantial land subsidence in this plain. The p...

Groundwater is a major source of fresh water in Tianjin Municipality, China. The average rate of groundwater extraction in this area for the last 20 years fluctuates between 0.6 and 0.8 billion cubic meters per year. As a result, significant subsidence has been observed in Tianjin. In this study, C-band Envisat (Environmental Satellite) ASAR (Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar) images and L-band...

Advanced techniques of multi-temporal InSAR (MT-InSAR) represent a valuable tool in ground subsidence studies allowing remote investigation of the behavior of mass movements in long time intervals by using large datasets of SAR images covering the same area and acquired at different epochs. The settlement in Beijing is very serious, producing adverse environmental impacts. Excessive groundwater...

Thermal dilation is a vital component of deformation along the extensive railway network infrastructure. To monitor subtle deformation, Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry (InSAR) technique has been adopted as a space-borne geodetic tool. However, InSAR applications in railway stability surveillance have been largely limited by the sparseness of detectable point-like targets (PTs). Moreover...
